Patient reviews

Kind words from our clients

  • Modern Day Physio at its best!!!

After a serious of illnesses which led to me experiencing daily migraines/headaches, I sought out Movement Matters. Scott did my initial assessment and was able to recreate my headaches/migraines by pressing down on my neck! He came up with a comprehensive treatment plan and explained how the pain was multi-factorial: new parent/lack of sleep/reduction in exercise/stress/desk work. Due to this the recovery process was and still is a self-learning process! I learned a lot from Scott: how I have been over using my upper neck muscles, creating a healthy mindset (acceptance and letting things go) and actually putting me first. This might sound wishy washy to you but the experience has changed my outlook on life and I am very grateful to Scott as I no longer wake up in pain. Should you suffer from pain and are looking for a holistic/modern way of treating pain, please go and book an appointment with Movement Matters now rather than wait for your body to completely break down or burn out. P.S. The receptionists are all really lovely which is an added bonus!

  • After my ACL reconstruction surgery in February I was unsure of what the next steps were for rehabilitation. NHS physio visits once every six weeks, between 12-20 minutes a time were not very reassuring. I was recommended to visit Movement Matters Physio. Scott has provided me with the best Post Operation Physio I could ask for. Weekly visits to the clinic with changes to my exercises and training plans help keep me motivated and focused on my end goal of returning to sport. My Testing Session gave data which really helped put my progress into perspective and allowed me to see how far I’ve come since starting at Movement Matters Physio. Thank you so much!! 😀

  • I have been seeing Beth at Movement Matters for the past few months for a torn tendon, which is slowly recovering under Beth’s expert care. Part of my treatment has included 3 sessions of Shockwave Therapy which has definitely kick started my recovery . I cannot fault this practice in anyway. The whole team there are so friendly, extremely knowledgeable and really go out of their way to help you. I cannot recommend this Practice highly enough and especially Beth for the care and attention she has given me. Thank you to you all.

Shoulder Tendon Pain - Focused Shockwave Therapy

  • I have seen both Scott & Sarah over the past 2 months, following severe damage to my spinal cord.
I have received amazing care & advice, with programmes specifically designed to assist with my development. The equipment & techniques are modern & effective.I have a very long road ahead of me but the progress I have made, after being told 6 months ago I wouldn’t walk, is overwhelming.
My confidence has grown with each session & I am happy that my ongoing journey is going to be with the team at Movement Matters by my side.
The clinic itself is spotless & all of the staff are welcoming & friendly.
    Very highly recommended.

    Spinal Injury

  • My 93 year old father had an emergency hip replacement. After 2 weeks in hospital and 3 weeks at
his home he had made very little progress. We were advised that it would be very difficult for him to
    walk again.
Not wanting to give up we contacted Movement Matters and Beth came to see him for the initial visit.
We were very impressed with what she managed to achieve so booked more sessions.
He has now had 7 sessions seeing either Beth or Scott. Both have worked wonders with him. His
walking is much better and the exercises they have helped him with are improving his overall
    strength.
    I can’t thank them enough

    Hip Replacement

  • I first began using Movement matters physio at the the end of March 2021 after suffering a leg break,
Ankle dislocation and tear of the deltoid ligament. I can’t recommend these guys enough. They have
been so helpful and supportive during my rehab. On my bad days, they lifted me up and made me
determined to keep on going! They gave me all the attention and care I needed and were always so
    helpful and understanding.
18 months later, I went into the studio to do a strength test with them and am so happy with the
results and progress I have made with their help, after being told by doctors that I would be lucky to
get back 80% of my ankle mobility/strength after the injury. Today I matched the strength in weight
and reps with the other leg and am so happy to have recovered the way I have and to be back to
playing football and running after having many doubts whether I’d be able to again. I can’t recommend
Scott and the team enough! They are truly incredible!

    Leg Fracture

  • I was recommended using MMP, and they have been brilliant!!! They have an absolute top notch
team. The receptionists are all extremely welcoming and friendly, and having worked with Scott on a
previous back issue the whole team make you feel part of the MMP family.
This time I had the pleasure of working with Ausrine since injuring a shoulder tendon doing Martial
Arts. My treatment has included Acupuncture, Shockwave Therapy, Massage Therapy as well as
Physical Therapy. Ausrine has been friendly, knowledgeable. Through my personalised program she
has helped to return my shoulder to full functionality, and also highlighted the root cause which was
specific weak areas of my shoulder. Now I have a training program which has been tailored to
compliment my Martial Arts, as well as addressing the weak areas which caused the original issue –

  • Ausrine was great and picked up my injury from the first appointment and helped me to get the movement & strength testing
needed. Ausrine and Scott have helped me massively, forcing me to rest then helping with my return
to running and a strength and conditioning programme based on my weaknesses to get me back on
track for my iron man. They’ve got me from being a few runs away from causing myself some serious
damage to 3 weeks from my first iron man. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Can’t recommend
    them

    Chronic Spinal Pain

  • I used Scott a few years ago when he worked wonders getting me back on my feet following a hip replacement. This time I had an issue with my knee and didn’t hesitate to return to him.

Scott has provided me with great care, support and treatment throughout, and I have recovered brilliantly. The combination of his treatment and exercise based rehabilitation has worked a treat.

His knowledge is excellent and the practice has great facilities. Would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to get high quality physio.

    Thanks Scott

    Knee Arthritis

  • Recommend “Movement Matters’, Scott has been brilliant! 6 months steady treatment with an exercise program has seen me go from scared to go anything strenuous in case my hip pain (arthritis)  become worse, to running 2 – 3 times a week and being pretty much pain free. Scott has helped me build the supportive muscles around my hip to prevent the pain and enable me to return to an activity I love! Thanks Scott.

    Hip pain

  • I have been working with Scott now for over 4 years, originally this was purely just for treatment for a neck injury but during this time I realised the importance of preventing injury and not just seeking help when something goes wrong.

I was also very quick to place all my pain down to something being wrong with my body, but by talking things through with Scott it made me look at other external factors that were affecting my road to recovery i.e sleep, nutrition, mental wellbeing etc.

Once my original injury was under control I continue to have monthly sessions to further improve my fitness and get their guidance on the right conditioning exercises for me. They help me get the right training schedules, varying my exercise to further improve my fitness to tolerate more running.

With their help I have seen improvements in particular areas of weakness and have now been running injury free for over a year and half.

I would highly recommend the team to anyone, especially those who are not just looking for a quick fix and are willing to invest in a longer term solution to support their fitness goals.

    Neck Injury

  • I can’t recommend Movement Matters Physiotherapy highly enough. I’d suffered from lower back pain on and off since my early teens, culminating in spinal surgery in 2015.

Scott has taken me all the way from post surgery back to being really active. I now have exercise programs Scott has prescribed for m which I complete 3 times a week as well as cycling regularly, all with no pain!

What sets Scott apart from other physios that I’ve worked with is that, whilst pain management is important, this is just the starting point. From the very first session, he is talking about long term prevention and what comes after the pain has gone.

Scott’s approach is that it’s not just a focus on the physical, but that the psychological is as if not more, important to achieving long term goals.

I now see Scott once a month, where we look at everything and tweak the workouts tat we’ve put together to keep things interesting and goal orientated.

Ultimately, what I’ve found with Scott is that he will be fully committed and will tailor his approach to suit you, rather than a once size fits all. And to top it all off he’s a really nice guy an a pleasure to work with.

    Lower Back Pain

  • I’d had lower back pain off and on for a year. I contacted Movement Matters on my husbands recommendation. After 4 months of treatment with Scott, I am pain free. I now have an exercise plan to move forward with and have realised how my lifestyle is affecting my body.

    Lower Back Pain

  • I first saw Scott a few years back after feeling something go ‘pop’ in my knee during a typical ride out. Scott first helped to deal with the initial pain and then followed with a real focus on improving and preventing the issue returning. I now have a weekly routine to follow that helps to strengthen and stabilise my knees so that when I do jump on the bike my knees are more than capable of handling the load.

    Highly, highly recommended.

    Cycling Knee Issues

  • Really really impressed with the treatment I’ve been receiving, I play football semi pro and suffered a ruptured quadricep, since then I have been seeing Sarah regularly and been given lots of strengthening exercises and it has worked wonders where I’m on the verge of coming back to fitness a lot earlier than scheduled.

I was very impressed with how she has dealt with the situation which is going on at the moment. I was scheduled to see Sarah last Thursday however with the Covid-19 pandemic I was unable to go the clinic, but Sarah said we can do a video consultation instead and couldn’t believe how well this went. We spoke about how I’m getting on etc and then was given new stretches which I was shown by Sarah, and then demonstrated them myself to make sure I had the correct technique and a training plan on my next progression with running and stretches, with the circumstances we are in at the moment I thought the video consultation is a great idea and will continue my progression to get back to fitness and definitely recommend this to anyone.

  • Postpartum recovery – I went to physio at movement matters because after 2.5 years since giving birth I was still having hip pain and just my whole body was so weak! The reason I was drawn to movement matters is because they have the lovely Beth who I was told had a special interest in women’s pregnancy and postpartum health/recovery.

The care I have received from Beth has been amazing! She really cares and shows you exactly what to do and tailors the exercises to your needs and fitness level. She explains WHY it’s happening and not just how to fix it! She has also helped with pain relief which has been amazing! She is also a mum herself so really can understand and empathise with me and clients alike. She has helped build my strength up slowly starting with my core and all the things that support my hips. Although my journey is not yet finished I am in a much better place, can walk far without getting pain and can now lie on my sides without pain!

Thank you Beth for everything. Best advice I can give is don’t wait for postpartum pain to get better on its own, it won’t. I’m so glad I took the leap and put my health first! Everyone at Movement Matters is so lovely! Special shout out to the friendly receptionists too! You are all awesome! Thank you.

    Post Pregnancy Physio

  • I’ve been seeing Sean for the last few weeks to improve my running after experiencing shin splints. Having a running assessment with him has been such a game changer. He recorded me running and we watched the video back together while he talked me through the changes I could make to improve my running. Every week I feel like I’m getting better and stronger. I’ve been given tangible advice from a patient and understanding physio. I am by no means an athlete but Sean understands my goals and how important it is to me to achieve them. I would highly recommend having a running assessment done if you’re wanting to get the best out of your running.

  • The experience I have had thus far at movement matters is nothing short of five stars. The ladies at reception are each so kind, always welcoming and continuously go out of their way to be accommodating.
Initially, I was seen by Ausrine and Scott, who both listened to my issues with incredible intent, straight away diagnosed my problem, and had a plan of action within the first session to aid my recovery.
I have now been seeing Ausrine for over a month, and cannot give higher praise. Her knowledge and attentiveness is immense, and the work we’ve done together has already helped me leaps and bounds. Every session is a genuine pleasure; Ausrine is not only incredibly knowledgable, but has a genuine knack for understanding people and their niche needs.
The team make you feel so cared for all round, which means a lot when you’re not your best physical self.

    Wrist & Pelvic/ Spinal Pain

  • When I arrived I was in constant pain, not able to sleep in bed and needed a stick to walk. Both hips and back had been diagnosed as osteo arthritis with little future hope. After an examination by Beth, Beth said she could help. She designed a program including acupuncture and gentle exercise and said I’d get back to playing golf eventually. Now the stick is stored in the garage, I’m able to sleep normally and I am playing golf (just as badly as before my injury!) again. The facility is modern and all the staff are friendly, appointments are on time and I plan to continue the program as long as the improvements to my general health continue. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Movement Matters Physio.

    Hip & Back Arthritis

  • I have had a long standing shoulder issue which was causing me a great deal of discomfort and often waking me up. It hadn’t responded to conventional treatment and so Beth recommended Shockwave treatment. To be honest at first I was sceptical as it is a large outlay with no guaranteed positive outcome. On reflection I went ahead with 3 treatments and in 3 weeks which is the recommended treatment cycle. Whilst it my shoulder was sore after each of the treatments by the end of the 3rd treatment I had a slight improvement in movement and a little less pain. Week 4 and 5 the pain got less and movement significantly improved. Jump forward to 8 weeks since treatment, I am now pain free and sleeping. Beth has gradually increased my exercise post treatment and I have around 90% movement back. Overall I would highly recommend this treatment to anyone experiencing similar issues.

    Back Pain

  • I’ve been seeing Scott at Movement Matters for about a year and a half for a few issues that have developed, including knee, Achilles’ tendon, and back pain, and it’s always been a systematic and thorough method to relieve those issues. Thankfully the problems haven’t arisen again due to useful education on the importance ensuring quality S&C for sports.

Would highly recommend to people, especially with their flexibility in appointment times.

  • I have been seeing Scott from Movement Matters for my Runners Knee injury. I am about a month into my rehab and I am already starting to see great improvement not only physically but Scott has completed changed my mindset to training. He really takes the time to get to know your goals and lifestyle and find the route cause as to why you are possibly injured in the first place. He also designs a realistic Strength & Conditioning plan that you can stick to week by week.

Scott is really focused on understanding why your injured, how to fix it and also looking ahead at the changes you need to make to ensure the problem doesn’t return. For example, last week I had a treadmill session where Scott analysed my heart rate so I knew my pace for those important recovery runs….. something I never actually did when marathon training!!

Everyone at the clinic is super friendly and I can see why so many of my running friends recommend Movement Matters.

Recently, I have been working with Sean. This has improved my strength and diet in readiness to return to running.

    Tennis Elbow

  • After several months of on, off, sometimes persistent back pains, I decided to seek professional help. Upon recommendations to see Beth, I phoned and spoke to a very pleasant receptionist, Helen, who booked me in for an appointment.
Right from the start Beth put me at ease, and after an hour of a very thorough examination and assessment, Beth pinpointed certain weaknesses in my back, both muscular and disc related and a programme of various exercises were offered for me to do at home. Just two weeks after doing them, I was completely pain free, and remain so now after six weeks. I can highly recommend Beth, as she is a very personable, engaging, extremely knowledgeable and consummate professional of the highest degree.

I have been attending weekly yoga classes with Hudson ever since.

I told Eloise that I wanted to be pain free and be able to walk in heels for my wedding. Eloise set me fab plan and we worked hard together at it. She pushed, challenged and encouraged me the entire way. My ankle is now not only pain free but much stronger than when I originally started. It feels like I’ve never had a problem a with my ankle!

Eloise is kind, warm and incredibly knowledgeable. I always felt at ease and had a lot of fun at our sessions. She is amazing!

I also love the warmth from the reception team, who are all able to greet you by name and take time to have a little chat. There really is a community feel.

  • I have a 25 year history of chronic back pain. I have had spinal injections, been offered spinal surgery snd seen untold physios. Then I was recommended to Scott at Movement Matters. Scott educated me on pain and convinced me that my back is treatable and not something to avoid. I am now seeing some great results through using exercises that i used to avoid. Scott has been like a counsellor at times and i have had to had a very open mind on this modern approach. I recommend that any long term back sufferers contact Scott for an initial chat , you have nothing to lose. Understanding back pain is the key to the progress i have made. I am still on a journey but i am now feeling positive about my future. Thankyou Scott and Movement Matters 😀

  • Too be honest I wasn’t sure whether physio was going to be the correct course of treatment to relieve long term shoulder pain, probably caused by stress and gym workouts. I was considering many other alternative treatments. However on my first assessment the physio explained she could certainly help. To my physical and concerned relief, I was set some immediate, simple and brief exercises for the identified painful muscle group. Exercises to help strengthen, stretch, restore and use them correctly especially at the gym. I was unable to feel the pain that very evening and that continues! I’m so grateful. I totally recommend Movement Matters who have a gym on site to help with your prescribed exercises.
Thank you to my Physio Ausrine and see you soon.

  • I have been having a course of 10 sessions with Beth for my neck over the past two months. I fell over during a gym class and got whiplash as a result! Beth is extremely knowledgable, friendly and welcoming, she made me instantly feel at ease from my first visit. Since then, I am now able to resume my daily activities without being in pain, working from a computer being mindful of my posture, and we have now progressed onto building back my strength through weight-training, with a focus on posture/alignment and building up my neck strength too! It’s been really valuable having these sessions with Beth, especially as I now really think about ensuring my posture is correct in day-to-day life! Thank you Beth for everything. I would throughly recommend Movement Matters!

I had my initial consultation with Scott who went through all of my issues so he could get a very clear understanding of the pain I’m having. He then explained the way he could definitely help me and went through a very clear plan of action.

I have had various osteopaths and physiotherapists over the past 15 or so years who have focused on relieving the pain rather than also addressing the cause of the pain.

I have had a few sessions now with Scott, along with the daily program to help strengthen my body. I’m really impressed with the results so far. The professionalism of Scott and his team is what you would certainly hope to expect. You are always welcomed with a smile at reception and made to feel at ease. The premises are spotless and very well maintained, along with their very own purpose built gym.

I highly recommend these guys for all of your physio needs.

    Back Pain

  • I was recommended to Movement Matters as I was suffering from severe lower back pain. I saw Scott and was advised to obtain an xray /MRI to rule out any fractures. I have been given gentle exercises, my treatment is still ongoing and will build as I get stronger. It’s early days but I cannot believe how far I have progressed from the first day I went to the physio and in so much pain.
The staff are nice, friendly and you are made welcome from the moment you walk through the door.
Scott is an enthusiastic physio that gives encouragement ,takes the time to listen to you. I have been singing his praises to friends and family .

    Back Pain

  • When I called Movement matters I was in extreme pain with my shoulder and arm. From my first appointment, Sarah has been fantastic, giving me advice and exercises to manage the pain. Once the nerve had settled, Sarah has given me exercises to strengthen my neck muscles so this doesn’t happen again.
Sarah and staff are fantastic I would definitely recommend 👍🏻

    Back Pain

  • I first went to see Ausrine at Movement Matters in December 2023 when I was suffering with chronic neck pain. She immediately impressed me with her understanding of how my complex health issues might impact my muscle and skeletal health and she put together a programme of treatment and exercise that eventually alleviated the pain and cured the problem. Following on from this treatment programme, Ausrine has devised an exercise programme with my specific needs in mind which I can now follow at home, checking in with an appointment with her every few weeks to tweak and modify the exercises as my fitness levels and strength increase.
I can recommend the excellent service provided by Ausrine and MMP that has both treated my problems with neck, back and knee pain and also provided me with a long term exercise regime appropriate to both my age and physical health issues.
This All the staff from the receptionists to the practitioners are friendly and welcoming and they always seem willing to try to address any issues with treatments and exercise to suit individual needs . An excellent service.

    Neck, Back & Knee Pain

  • I visited Sarah after being recommended by a good friend of mine as I have seen other physios without any progress. I had a shoulder injured cause by weight training and I had been training through the pain for nearly a year. I genuinely thought my shoulder was injured for life and after Sarah’s rehab and home rehab movements I was assigned I can honestly say my shoulder is back to normal! I would recommend Movement Matters and Sarah to anyone!

  • Had frozen shoulder inflammation and arthritis. I was unable to do anything. Washing drying hair. Putting on underwear raising arm to put items into cupboards. Had terrible pain. Within three weeks the improvement is amazing. I can do all of the above. Ausrine is a delight. Such a positive attitude which encourages you to progress and do well. I’m genuinely impressed with her guidance and my improvement. Now to get stronger

  • I’ve been having sports massages with Ausrine for a while now and she is not only very talented and knowledgeable, but also incredibly welcoming and kind. I’ve gone to her when I’ve needed general maintenance, injury prevention or a massage before a race. Every time I come away feeling great and have even had some niggles completely eradicated with a single visit. The ladies at the front desk are always very helpful and lovely too 🙂

  • Following foot surgery, today was my second appointment with Scott at Movement Matters. This clinic is the most professional establishment I have been in. From a state of the art gym with air conditioning to numerous treatment rooms.
Today Scott checked my strength, power and asymmetry using Forcedecks. With this in depth information, my road to recovery is positive. Hopefully running again, won’t be a long distant memory!

  • Went in with a severe hamstring injury, and need to get back to playing netball. I am really pleased to have come to this practice. Got a clear diagnosis right from the start, the facilities and testing equipment highlighted the weakness straight away and we have clear plan to get me back fit. The pain is already better, feeling a lot more hopeful about my recovery. From the reception staff to the physio, I fully recommend!

    Sports Massage

  • This place is amazing. Started with shoulder pain and very restricted arm movement due to overdoing it in the gym. From the moment I walked into the very nice reception area was immediately made to feel welcome and at ease (this was a very new experience to me). Sean is very knowledgeable and extremely professional at what he does. Explains everything in great detail so you fully understand what your doing and why your doing it to get results you need. Can’t give enough praise to the experience I have had. Arm and shoulder feeling so much better after only a couple of visits. Thanks to all of your help Sean. 10/10.

    Shoulder Pain

  • Was referred to Scott at Movement Matters by my Consultant, due to quite restricted movement and pain in my neck and shoulder after a fall. I was assessed and an exercise/treatment plan was discussed and explained in full, after a few weeks (2 sessions a week) the improvement in movement and reduction in pain has been amazing. The staff are great, always pleasant and go out of their way to help and explain everything. I have no hesitation in recommending Movement Matters to anyone in need of their services.

    Neck & Shoulder Pain

  • I had reduced movement and pain in my neck.
After seeing Eloise at Movement Matters over a few sessions I now have complete movement without any pain. I can’t fault the service they provide and can’t recommend Eloise enough.

    Neck Pain

  • Excellent.

I’ve had issues with my ankles for quite some time.

Scott helped set up a rehabilitation and conditioning programme that really suited.

I am an inpatient person however with monthly checks I built better strength and mobility in my joints.

So I should be back playing sport imminently.

    Footballer - Ankle Pains

  • I injured my back at work and was suffering with nerve pain in my leg that was making me limp. After several weeks it wasn’t getting any better, so I booked to see Ausrine for physio.
Ausrine identified exactly where the injury was, and explained in detail why that was causing the nerve pain in my leg. She set me a series of exercises to do, and modified them each week as I got progressively better. I am now completely free of the pain, and back to walking normally.
I’ve never been one for exercise/healthy living, but since going to physio, I’m actually looking forward to going on to strength / fitness training here. Ausrine has been brilliant at encouraging and engaging with me, and explaining what exactly is going on with muscles, nerves etc.
I would highly recommend this place; very professional, and lovely, caring staff.

    Back Pain

  • I started attending physio session’s at Movement Matters earlier this year after suffering long term Neuro-physical problems since brain surgery a number of years ago for a large brain tumour.

Ausrine, has been working to discover nuances of my condition and has been able to develop bespoke exercise routines to help me with improving the balance and proprioception issues I experience, helping me to improve the quality of day to day life.

Many of the exercise routines are challenging and require persistence, both at the clinic and at home between sessions.

I would recommend Ausrine at Movement Matters, because she has demonstrated the ability to think outside the box when it comes to developing exercise routines for the subtleties of brain injury.
