WE TREAT AND PREVENT THE CAUSE OF PAIN

Our Unique Movement First Treatment Pathway

At Movement Matters all staff embrace and work to the same philosophy. This philosophy is based on sound scientific values and principles and puts managing movement at the heart of the matter and underpins our staff training and staff development, assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of you.

It enables you to be seen by any clinician at our clinic safe in the knowledge that what you receive will be the same type and quality of treatment regardless of the staff member. Our approach is what makes Movement Matters different.

We have the skills to treat the symptoms but identifying the cause that underpins the symptoms is what makes our approach different to many other clinics.

I can't recommend Movement Matters Physiotherapy highly enough. I'd suffered from lower back pain on and off since my early teens, culminating in spinal surgery in 2015.

Scott has taken me all the way from post surgery back to being really active. I now have exercise programs Scott has prescribed for m which I complete 3 times a week as well as cycling regularly, all with no pain!

What sets Scott apart from other physios that I've worked with is that, whilst pain management is important, this is just the starting point. From the very first session, he is talking about long term prevention and what comes after the pain has gone.

Scott's approach is that it's not just a focus on the physical, but that the psychological is as if not more, important to achieving long term goals.

I now see Scott once a month, where we look at everything and tweak the workouts tat we've put together to keep things interesting and goal orientated.

Ultimately, what I've found with Scott is that he will be fully committed and will tailor his approach to suit you, rather than a once size fits all. And to top it all off he's a really nice guy an a pleasure to work with.

Patient reviews

Kind words from our clients

  • I used Scott a few years ago when he worked wonders getting me back on my feet following a hip replacement. This time I had an issue with my knee and didn’t hesitate to return to him.

Scott has provided me with great care, support and treatment throughout, and I have recovered brilliantly. The combination of his treatment and exercise based rehabilitation has worked a treat.

His knowledge is excellent and the practice has great facilities. Would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to get high quality physio.

    Thanks Scott

    Knee Arthritis

  • Recommend “Movement Matters’, Scott has been brilliant! 6 months steady treatment with an exercise program has seen me go from scared to go anything strenuous in case my hip pain (arthritis)  become worse, to running 2 – 3 times a week and being pretty much pain free. Scott has helped me build the supportive muscles around my hip to prevent the pain and enable me to return to an activity I love! Thanks Scott.

    Hip pain

  • I have been working with Scott now for over 4 years, originally this was purely just for treatment for a neck injury but during this time I realised the importance of preventing injury and not just seeking help when something goes wrong.

I was also very quick to place all my pain down to something being wrong with my body, but by talking things through with Scott it made me look at other external factors that were affecting my road to recovery i.e sleep, nutrition, mental wellbeing etc.

Once my original injury was under control I continue to have monthly sessions to further improve my fitness and get their guidance on the right conditioning exercises for me. They help me get the right training schedules, varying my exercise to further improve my fitness to tolerate more running.

With their help I have seen improvements in particular areas of weakness and have now been running injury free for over a year and half.

I would highly recommend the team to anyone, especially those who are not just looking for a quick fix and are willing to invest in a longer term solution to support their fitness goals.

    Lower Back Pain

  • I’d had lower back pain off and on for a year. I contacted Movement Matters on my husbands recommendation. After 4 months of treatment with Scott, I am pain free. I now have an exercise plan to move forward with and have realised how my lifestyle is affecting my body.

    Lower Back Pain

  • I first saw Scott a few years back after feeling something go ‘pop’ in my knee during a typical ride out. Scott first helped to deal with the initial pain and then followed with a real focus on improving and preventing the issue returning. I now have a weekly routine to follow that helps to strengthen and stabilise my knees so that when I do jump on the bike my knees are more than capable of handling the load.

    Highly, highly recommended.

    Cycling Knee Issues

  • Really really impressed with the treatment I’ve been receiving, I play football semi pro and suffered a ruptured quadricep, since then I have been seeing Sarah regularly and been given lots of strengthening exercises and it has worked wonders where I’m on the verge of coming back to fitness a lot earlier than scheduled.

I was very impressed with how she has dealt with the situation which is going on at the moment. I was scheduled to see Sarah last Thursday however with the Covid-19 pandemic I was unable to go the clinic, but Sarah said we can do a video consultation instead and couldn’t believe how well this went. We spoke about how I’m getting on etc and then was given new stretches which I was shown by Sarah, and then demonstrated them myself to make sure I had the correct technique and a training plan on my next progression with running and stretches, with the circumstances we are in at the moment I thought the video consultation is a great idea and will continue my progression to get back to fitness and definitely recommend this to anyone.

  • Postpartum recovery – I went to physio at movement matters because after 2.5 years since giving birth I was still having hip pain and just my whole body was so weak! The reason I was drawn to movement matters is because they have the lovely Beth who I was told had a special interest in women’s pregnancy and postpartum health/recovery.

The care I have received from Beth has been amazing! She really cares and shows you exactly what to do and tailors the exercises to your needs and fitness level. She explains WHY it’s happening and not just how to fix it! She has also helped with pain relief which has been amazing! She is also a mum herself so really can understand and empathise with me and clients alike. She has helped build my strength up slowly starting with my core and all the things that support my hips. Although my journey is not yet finished I am in a much better place, can walk far without getting pain and can now lie on my sides without pain!

Thank you Beth for everything. Best advice I can give is don’t wait for postpartum pain to get better on its own, it won’t. I’m so glad I took the leap and put my health first! Everyone at Movement Matters is so lovely! Special shout out to the friendly receptionists too! You are all awesome! Thank you.

  • I have been seeing Beth at Movement Matters for the past few months for a torn tendon, which is slowly recovering under Beth’s expert care. Part of my treatment has included 3 sessions of Shockwave Therapy which has definitely kick started my recovery . I cannot fault this practice in anyway. The whole team there are so friendly, extremely knowledgeable and really go out of their way to help you. I cannot recommend this Practice highly enough and especially Beth for the care and attention she has given me. Thank you to you all.

  • I’ve been seeing Sean for the last few weeks to improve my running after experiencing shin splints. Having a running assessment with him has been such a game changer. He recorded me running and we watched the video back together while he talked me through the changes I could make to improve my running. Every week I feel like I’m getting better and stronger. I’ve been given tangible advice from a patient and understanding physio. I am by no means an athlete but Sean understands my goals and how important it is to me to achieve them. I would highly recommend having a running assessment done if you’re wanting to get the best out of your running.

  • The experience I have had thus far at movement matters is nothing short of five stars. The ladies at reception are each so kind, always welcoming and continuously go out of their way to be accommodating.
Initially, I was seen by Ausrine and Scott, who both listened to my issues with incredible intent, straight away diagnosed my problem, and had a plan of action within the first session to aid my recovery.
I have now been seeing Ausrine for over a month, and cannot give higher praise. Her knowledge and attentiveness is immense, and the work we’ve done together has already helped me leaps and bounds. Every session is a genuine pleasure; Ausrine is not only incredibly knowledgable, but has a genuine knack for understanding people and their niche needs.
The team make you feel so cared for all round, which means a lot when you’re not your best physical self.

    Wrist & Pelvic/ Spinal Pain

  • When I arrived I was in constant pain, not able to sleep in bed and needed a stick to walk. Both hips and back had been diagnosed as osteo arthritis with litttle future hope. After an examination by Beth, Beth disagreed with the diagnosis and said she could help. She designed a program including acupuncture, massage and gentle excerise and said I’d get back to playing golf eventually. Now the stick is stored in the garage, I’m able to sleep normally and I am playing golf (just as badly as before my injury!) again. The facility is modern and all the staff are friendly, appointments are on time and I plan to continue the program as long as the improvements to my general health continue. I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending Movement Matters Physio.

    Hip & Back Arthritis

  • I have had a long standing shoulder issue which was causing me a great deal of discomfort and often waking me up. It hadn’t responded to conventional treatment and so Beth recommended Shockwave treatment. To be honest at first I was sceptical as it is a large outlay with no guaranteed positive outcome. On reflection I went ahead with 3 treatments and in 3 weeks which is the recommended treatment cycle. Whilst it my shoulder was sore after each of the treatments by the end of the 3rd treatment I had a slight improvement in movement and a little less pain. Week 4 and 5 the pain got less and movement significantly improved. Jump forward to 8 weeks since treatment, I am now pain free and sleeping. Beth has gradually increased my exercise post treatment and I have around 90% movement back. Overall I would highly recommend this treatment to anyone experiencing similar issues.

  • Excellent, personalised diagnosis, service and home plan. Sean has been so helpful, understanding and patient with me. I am undertaking a long distance hike next year, and I am confident that the personalised programme of exercises will strengthen my legs in preparation.
From booking to session, everyone is friendly, efficient and compassionate.
    I totally recommend Movement Matters!

    Knee Pain

  • I have seen both Scott & Sarah over the past 2 months, following severe damage to my spinal cord.
I have received amazing care & advice, with programmes specifically designed to assist with my development. The equipment & techniques are modern & effective.I have a very long road ahead of me but the progress I have made, after being told 6 months ago I wouldn’t walk, is overwhelming.
My confidence has grown with each session & I am happy that my ongoing journey is going to be with the team at Movement Matters by my side.
The clinic itself is spotless & all of the staff are welcoming & friendly.
    Very highly recommended.

  • After injuring my lower back at work I was recommended to Movement Matters by a close friend.
Since my first arrival the treatment, advice, care and attention to detail has been first class.

    Back Pain

  • I’ve been seeing Scott at Movement Matters for about a year and a half for a few issues that have developed, including knee, Achilles’ tendon, and back pain, and it’s always been a systematic and thorough method to relieve those issues. Thankfully the problems haven’t arisen again due to useful education on the importance ensuring quality S&C for sports.

Would highly recommend to people, especially with their flexibility in appointment times.

  • I have been seeing Scott from Movement Matters for my Runners Knee injury. I am about a month into my rehab and I am already starting to see great improvement not only physically but Scott has completed changed my mindset to training. He really takes the time to get to know your goals and lifestyle and find the route cause as to why you are possibly injured in the first place. He also designs a realistic Strength & Conditioning plan that you can stick to week by week.

Scott is really focused on understanding why your injured, how to fix it and also looking ahead at the changes you need to make to ensure the problem doesn’t return. For example, last week I had a treadmill session where Scott analysed my heart rate so I knew my pace for those important recovery runs….. something I never actually did when marathon training!!

Everyone at the clinic is super friendly and I can see why so many of my running friends recommend Movement Matters.

  • My 93 year old father had an emergency hip replacement. After 2 weeks in hospital and 3 weeks at his home he had made very little progress. We were advised that it would be very difficult for him to walk again.

Not wanting to give up we contacted Movement Matters and Beth came to see him for the initial visit.

We were very impressed with what she managed to achieve so booked more sessions.

He has now had 7 sessions seeing either Beth or Scott. Both have worked wonders with him. His walking is much better and the exercises they have helped him with are improving his overall strength.

    I can’t thank them enough.

    Hip Replacement

  • After suffering from plantar fasciitis, I decided to seek help from Movement Matters. The support, treatment, and advice I have received throughout has been fantastic. The focus has always been to not only treat my injury but to help prevent it returning through rehabilitation.
All staff are welcoming and helpful. The facilities are excellent.
Recently, I have been working with Sean. This has improved my strength and diet in readiness to return to running.
Also a big thank you to Scott. His knowledge and support, especially through the tough times, has enabled me to persevere. I am pleased to say I achieved my first run outside yesterday!

  • I recently went to see Beth about a problem with my elbow. She was very thorough and diagnosed 2 problems I had. She explained everything clearly to me and after some treatment sessions and exercises for home the problem has completely gone away. I can’t recommend this clinic enough. All the staff are excellent.

  • After several months of on, off, sometimes persistent back pains, I decided to seek professional help. Upon recommendations to see Beth, I phoned and spoke to a very pleasant receptionist, Helen, who booked me in for an appointment.
Right from the start Beth put me at ease, and after an hour of a very thorough examination and assessment, Beth pinpointed certain weaknesses in my back, both muscular and disc related and a programme of various exercises were offered for me to do at home. Just two weeks after doing them, I was completely pain free, and remain so now after six weeks. I can highly recommend Beth, as she is a very personable, engaging, extremely knowledgeable and consummate professional of the highest degree.

    Shoulder Pain - Shockwave

  • After some physio at Movement Matters with Sarah, I was advised to try yoga to assist with ongoing issues.
I have been attending weekly yoga classes with Hudson ever since.
My range of movement has improved across my whole body and my core strength is greater than it’s been in years. Each session leaves me feeling like I’ve done a workout but also the most relaxed I feel all week.
I highly recommend yoga with Hudson and look forward to my sessions every time.

    Reduced Mobility & Movement

  • After having problems and long term pain with arthritis, my mum attended Movement Matters and saw Beth.

With the treatment of physio and acupuncture she feels like a different person.

    Very friendly staff and atmosphere.

Her only regret is not getting help earlier.

10/10 for Movement Matters and Beth

    Arthritis

  • After significant knee surgery in February I am so glad I moved my physio recovery from my health providers in-house Physio team to Movement Matters. With a 12 month recovery, I feel ahead of schedule which is great. Sarah is great and keeps me informed of progress, what to expect next, and the reasons why we are doing what we are doing. The facilities are modern, clean, great location, and the team behind Sarah are always friendly and able to accommodate changes to planned sessions with minimal of fuss and a smile. I would recommend MMP and couldn’t ask for more.
